In today’s Post, we’re going to talk about the ₹1000 note. Do RBI Really into it to Print New Notes This Year.
You must have seen several videos on YouTube claiming that the new ₹1000 note is going to be released soon. There are servel clams in the Internet or Social Media.
You might also have come across some articles on WhatsApp and Facebook saying that the RBI is planning to issue a ₹1000 note soon. After demonetization, the Government of India had introduced new ₹2000 and ₹500 notes, while the old ₹1000 and ₹500 notes were withdrawn from circulation.
Later, the RBI released new ₹200, ₹100, ₹50, and ₹10 notes.
All of these are part of the Mahatma Gandhi Series.
If you’ve noticed, in these new notes Gandhi Ji’s face now appears on the right side instead of the left.
The first note in this new series was the ₹2000 note, which featured an image of Mangalyaan (India’s Mars Mission). (Meanwhile 2000 rupees notes withdrwan by RBI but Still remains Legel Tender)
At that time, there were rumors that this note contained nano chip technology, but later it turned out to be fake news.
The next denomination was the new ₹500 note, which features the image of Red Fort in Delhi.
Recently, some pictures of a supposed new ₹1000 note have been going viral on social media, and people are claiming that the RBI will soon release it.
These notes look quite similar to the ₹100 and ₹200 notes in design and color.
Now the big question is —
Should the government really issue a new ₹1000 note or not?

Let’s now take a look at those viral images —
1000 Note Image New
1️⃣ First image – It says “₹1000” and is marked as a “Specimen Copy.”
However, if you observe closely, it looks almost identical to the ₹2000 note — someone has simply edited the number to make it “1000.”
So clearly, this is a photoshopped image.
2️⃣ Second image – This one shows a green-colored note that says “₹1000,” but at the top, it still reads “₹2000.”
This too confirms that it’s a fake or edited picture.
In independent India, the ₹1000 note was first introduced on 1st April 1954, featuring an image of the Tanjore Temple.
Later, new ₹1000 notes were released in 1997, this time with the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi.
Then on 8th November 2016, the ₹1000 note was demonetized and withdrawn from circulation.
Since then, there has been no official information about any new ₹1000 note.
As of now, the RBI has made no official announcement or confirmation about issuing a new ₹1000 note.
Some economists believe that eliminating high-denomination notes helps reduce corruption, which is why the government limited the printing of ₹2000 notes and focused more on smaller denominations.
So, it’s quite likely that the government will continue emphasizing smaller value notes in the future.
If the RBI ever plans to issue a new ₹1000 note, it will first announce it officially on its website — rbi.org.in.
So, if you see any such posts or pictures on social media claiming that a new ₹1000 note is coming, don’t believe them blindly — always verify from the official RBI website.
