10 Paise Coin 1988-1998
Some of you may have familiar with these small 10 Paise steel coins. Some of you surely remember these coins from your childhood days, when you buy candy and other goods with them. These coins were minted between 1988 to 1998. In today’s post, we will discuss the complete information about the small 10 paisa stainless steel coins. Some of these coins can give you a very good amount of value. But not every coin is rare among them so be sure to read this article carefully to know which ones are Valuable and collectible.
Before these new steel coins came into circulation, we had old 10 Paisa coins made from aluminum and magnesium from 1983 to1993.
The size of these coins is now very small compared to the previous one. The previous coin diameter was around 23 mm now these new coins have a round shape with a diameter of 16 mm. The coin weight was not much changed but these coins are a little bit heavier. Previous have a weight of 1.75 grams and these new coins have a weight of 1.8 grams. Due to stainless steel, these new coins have a less minting cost.
Design
These new 10 Paisa steel coins have a round shape with some design changes from the previous coins. The front side of the coin has an Ashoka pillar with Satyamev Jayate written on the bottom Bharat and India is also written left and right. The backside of the coin has 10 Paisa written on it with the minting year and the mintmark. These new coins were made from all Indian mints and in Ottawa Canada mint.
1988 and 1989 coin an error in few coins. On the Obverse side of the coin some coins mint (भारत as मारत).
